It’s more rewarding to turn in your used devices with Verizon. You can receive either receive a Verizon Wireless Virtual Gift Card or a credit applied to your Verizon Wireless Account if your device qualifies, or you can donate it to HopeLine® from Verizon, a program that provides support to victims and survivors of domestic violence.

We accept devices from any carrier. If you are interested in recycling your old device please visit our NEW Device Recycling website.

If you are a Business wanting to submit a large number of devices - please see our FAQ's for a separate program.

Devices purchased with government funds or that have been reported as lost or stolen are not eligible. If submitted, such devices will not be returned and no Verizon Wireless gift card will be issued. See FAQ's for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions


Your Submission ID is the confirmation number that you receive once you complete your transaction to trade in your device. You'll need to know your ID to check the status of your trade. Please refer to the confirmation email we sent you after you completed your online submission. The email contains your ID, as well as important information about how to ship your device. If you need further assistance, call Verizon Device Recycling Program customer support at (877) 835-2024.

You can submit your device for trade-in at any Verizon Wireless owned and operated store and receive an instant Verizon Wireless Virtual Gift Card.

Or you can call Verizon Wireless customer service and do your upgrade over the phone. Your new device will be mailed to you. You can then complete your trade-in of your current device on the Verizon Device Recycling website. Appraise your device by answering a few simple questions and a postage paid, recycling box will be mailed to you.

You can use your Virtual Gift Card at any Verizon Wireless owned and operated retail location or online at www.verizonwireless.com to:

  • Purchase accessories.
  • Purchase a new device.
  • Pay your Verizon Wireless bill - Simply sign into you're my Verizon account and select the pay bill option!
Verizon Wireless Gift Cards cannot be used to pay charges that do not appear on Verizon Wireless bills.

If you misplaced the prepaid shipping materials that were sent to you, call Verizon Device Recycling Program customer support at (877) 835-2024 to have new shipping materials sent to you.

You must turn off the Find My iPhone feature using your AppleID password before iPhones can be accepted for value.

Failure to turn off Find My iPhone may prevent warehouse processing of the phone, and the result could be a valuation equivalent to an iPhone that does not power on. The process to turn off Find My iPhone through Settings>iCloud before completing a trade is simple and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Most devices allow you to erase all of your personal data - your contact list, photos, text messages, etc. -and reset the device to its factory settings. Just refer to your owner's manual, the manufacturer's website, or follow the link displayed upon completion of your trade-in submission for instructions.

Please make sure to remove any user locks, or set the password to 0000, before you submit your device.

Yes. Please do not send devices with active wireless service. Please consult with your wireless carrier about cancelling service. You will not receive a Verizon Wireless gift card for your device until service is inactive.

You must send your device and battery, unless you indicated during the appraisal process that the battery would not be included. The battery must be properly installed in the device and the unit must be powered off before shipping.

Please do not ship the charger, SD card, SIM card, or any other accessories with your device. No trade-in value will be provided for accessories received and they will not be returned.

Locate your device's ESN/MEID or IMEI, either in the battery well or through the device's Settings menu. Contact Customer Service at 800-922-0204, provide the ESN/MEID or IMEI and ask if the device has been reported as lost or stolen.

Your Verizon Wireless Virtual Gift Card will be delivered electronically to the email address you provided during the online submission within 4 to 6 weeks from the time we receive your device.

No, not at this time. However you can still use your Virtual Gift Card towards the purchase of accessories or wireless devices.

When we received your device, we check to ensure it matches the information you provided during the online submission. If it does not match or if your device was not submitted within 30 days, you may receive less than you expected for the device.

Failure to turn off any Device Activation Lock, e.g. Find My iPhone, may prevent our device service center from completely processing your device and may result in an deduction. For Apple iPhone owners, the process to turn off Find My iPhone through Settings>iCloud before completing a trade is simple and takes only a few minutes to complete.

We recognize that renewal and reuse is the highest form of recycling. After thoroughly clearing/destroying personal data from the devices we receive, our first priority is to renew used devices for reuse, especially in developing countries where they are needed most. By doing so, we are accelerating access to affordable, life-changing wireless technology to people around the world. When wireless devices cannot be renewed and must be recycled, we adhere to a zero landfill policy, to keep e-waste out of landfills.
